This library was already categorized by genre. Even though it was technically organized, it still looked cluttered. With the addition of storage baskets, lighting from a lamp, the addition of original artwork done by the client’s daughter and decorative items, the bookshelves storage area was transformed into a personal reflection of the home owner's interests and intellect.

Sharing Display and Storage Space

When this homeowner built an addition onto the house, he made sure the space had an adequate amount of built-in shelving. Even though it was all custom built it just looked like unorganized storage in plain sight. After the shelves were emptied and dusted, we replaced all of the original books it held (by category) and still had room to display some precious mementos and pictures that the client liked to look at. This added functionality and appeal to the room.

The Closet to Die For

This closet is huge, sturdy and wonderful. So wonderful that the homeowner kept pitching all kinds of things onto its many deep shelves, overflowing to the floor. Finally it was bulging at the seams. We emptied the contents and categorized everything into “like items”. (Travel, kids, golf, gift wrap, gift closet, CD collection, electronics, linens, luggage, etc.). The next step was to store items the homeowners do not need frequently as high as possible. Stacking shelves were placed on the highest existing shelves to increase the storage on the top shelf. We loaded everything back in by category into the space that was necessary to contain each section and even allowed space to grow. After all was said and done, one hefty bag of trash was discarded and three shelves were still open to receive more “stuff”.

General Home Closets

This closet was one of the selling/buying points of this home. Now the homeowners can enjoy the vision they had of all their “stuff” neatly packed away at arm's length.

Categorize and Contain

The most amount of clutter in this closet stemmed from gift and “re-gifting” wrap and bags. Once we contained those two classifications of items, the rest was easy. Now it is Clutter-Free!

Home Office Storage

This home office is located in a typical bedroom design with a typical closet design. Since the use for the space is strictly office oriented, shelves were installed where clothes would usually hang. The Rods were kept in place because it turns out to be good storage for hangers (which the business owner uses regularly). A grip light was installed because a plug happened to be located inside the closet. When the business owner is finished working, she closes the closet doors. The space become less of an office and more of a den for those who might be enjoying the adjacent game room.

Shelves Hold All Kinds of Things

The home office shelves on the left hold family photo albums, important binder notebooks and attractive baskets for general office supplies.

The pantry to the right maximizes space by using stacking shelves and door racks.
